Light in the Jungle

This spectacular jungle started as a journey through into the richness and depth of nature's greens. As the gaze carves its way through the thick bush, strokes of sharp light appear to cut-out clear paths for the eye to wander on. Placing the visual accent on this leaf, and that bark, the artist makes order arise out of chaos.

Part of our fascination with wild nature may be that we see in it a reflection of the spontaneous, imaginative side of our own psyche. From this perspective, allowing our senses, feelings, and imaginations to be engaged by untrammeled natural processes is a way of untrammeling our own minds.

HERBERT W. SCHROEDER ("The value of Wilderness", 2007)

The artist is inviting you, the viewer, for a journey into the subjective and gestural expression of his subconscious mind. A tail of adventure and courage, of discovery and conquest. Certainly a tail with no end in sight.

Broad gestures and generous brush strokes are characteristic of this intrinsically expressive work of art. The painting, which is based on Virtosu's preferred format, exudes a kind of natural vibrancy and intrinsic pleasure for the cumulative gesture. The artists' brush seems to glide effortlessly into this immersive environment, while helping to produce it at the same time.
