It's just This

A warm, dreamlike scene unfolds across the canvas — a landscape awash in glowing tones of rose, amber, and soft coral. Against this tender pink background, a merry-go-round slowly sinks, its figures half-immersed, half-suspended in stillness. The air vibrates with warmth; reflections ripple gently, as if time itself were dissolving into color.

Despite the image’s quiet melancholy, the palette radiates a sense of peace. The warmth of the hues turns loss into acceptance, movement into surrender. It feels neither tragic nor nostalgic — simply inevitable, and strangely beautiful.

“The work is about presence,” explains Dominic Virtosu. “About how everything — joy, decay, memory — exists in the same moment. The merry-go-round is just a witness to that stillness. It’s not ending, it’s just this.”

“It’s just This” captures a delicate balance between playfulness and resignation, offering a vision that soothes as it unsettles — a poetic meditation on what remains when everything else drifts away.
